Multiple Injuries
How multiple injuries are compensated by the CICA
The CICA assess the standard amount of compensation, using the level of compensation for the relevant description in the tariff of injuries.
If you have serious but separate multiple injuries, the CICA compensate you like this: 100% of the most serious injury; 30% of the second highest rated injury and then 15% of the third injury. The CICA do not compensate more than three separate injuries.
If you have suffered THREE multiple minor injuries, such as hair pulled from scalp; severe and widespread bruising; black eye(s); grazing, cuts and lacerations; bloody nose; loss of fingernails; severe soft tissue injury ( with no permanent disability ) AND have sought medical attention on TWO occasions WITHIN a SIX week period concerning these injuries, then you may be awarded a level 1 compensation payement of £1,000.
Make sure your GP does record HOW and WHY you became injured. Ask to see what has been added to your file. This is YOUR RIGHT and your doctor cannot refuse.
It is always important to tell your GP when s/he examines you, how you became injured.
This information will be added to your medical notes and make it easier for the CICA to identify the times you sought medical advice in respect of your injury. This can mean the difference between receiving compensation and not receiving compensation.
